社工杜彩薇（林青霞 饰）从事帮助失足青少年工作，在澳门结识了离家出走的少年张天安（吴大维 饰），将他带回香港。天安对彩薇十分倾慕，不顾年龄差距展开追求，彩薇也很心动，虽然顾虑重重，但终于还是答应天安，两人很快谈婚论嫁。在彩薇心中，其实藏着一段失败爱情，那时她还是风华正茂的大学少女，不慎与有妻室的教授张英全（林子祥 饰）坠入爱河，不但饱受非议，还被教授已经怀孕的妻子当面指责，张英全最终承受不了压力选择逃避，还丢了教职，彩薇无可奈何，也对爱情心灰意冷。如今因为天安对爱情重燃希望，彩薇也受到来自上司的压力，只能辞职，一心等待结婚，没想到偶然重遇十分落魄的张英全，继而发现天安的真实身份，让彩薇陷入崩溃边缘……。This story is about a musician, Natalie, who moves to a big city and tries her luck at becoming famous.
